Step into the fog-softened streets of historic Chester and take on the role of investigator in Chester Cold Case Chronicle — a story-driven city quest where history itself becomes evidence.
Chester is a city of layers: Roman walls, medieval gateways, hidden Rows and riverside paths. But beneath the stone and ceremony lies a mystery long left unresolved. Years ago, Eliza Harrow vanished. Her name appears once… then disappears. The case was closed before it began. Until now.
Armed with your Quest Booklet 📖 and a sharp eye for detail, you’ll follow a carefully designed walking route of around 3 miles, from Chester Cathedral to Grosvenor Park, uncovering clues hidden in plain sight.

No! Little legs can get tired and always useful to have a quick pit stop to freshen back up again, but they aren’t mandatory. There are no clues inside any building, so if you’re able to keep going, keep going!
Due to the historic nature of the locations and clues it is not always possible to guarantee accessibility for all. At CityQuest we strive for inclusivity for all, and where feasible offer alternative routes between clues.
No! Once you receive your Quest Pack, you’re good to go! Just get your team assembled, head to the starting point and Quest away!
We endeavour a next-day dispatch using Royal Mail first class service. You should receive your Quest within 3-4 working days.
Our Quests don’t have an expiry date – we use permanent historic landmarks to make the clues which could have been present for centuries!
There may be access issues at some locations due to isolated incidents in each city or if other events are taking place. If you are unsure, please contact us a week before you Quest to check!
The Quests are designed to be interactive for all players, and each pack has several components to keep idle hands busy. If your group is larger than 6 Questers then we recommend a second pack to ensure that no one gets left out. Or you could split into two groups and race each other!
The rear of your Quest pack contains both additional clues and the answer if you really struggle. The map and directions offer you clear guidance between clues – if you get really stuck trace back to a previous clue and try again!
