Find something nearby which is non-metalic and flat. A park bench, stone planter. Allow the needle to settle, then turn your body to face North.

Once the needle has settled, set off in the direction of where the instructions take you – as close as possible!

Step 1: Meet the Wheels
You’ve got two discs — a big one (outer) and a small one (inner) — each with letters (and sometimes numbers or symbols) around the edge.
Think of it as a secret alphabet sandwich.

Step 2: Find the Key
Your clue should tell you a “key” — something like “A = M” or “Shift 5” or “Key: D”.
That’s your secret handshake for this code.

Step 3: Line It Up
Turn the inner wheel until your “key” letter on the outer wheel matches the smaller wheel’s letter.
Example: If the key says “A = M”, line up A (outer) to match with M (inner).

Step 4: Decode Like a Boss
- For each letter in your puzzle, find it on the outer wheel.
- Look directly under it on the inner wheel to see its decoded twin.
(Or reverse the process if you’re encrypting.)

Step 5: Keep the Wheels Steady
If you bump them out of place, your secret code turns into nonsense. Hold it still or mark the key spot with a tiny piece of tape.

Step 6: Celebrate the “Aha!”
The moment the gibberish turns into words? That’s your brain doing a victory dance.

Find the plaque, inscription or paragraph in your booklet.  Match numbers with words and letters.

For example, the letter "R" would be 6,3 in the previous paragraph.

Once you have two letters, an X and a Y, you have some coordinates!  Use the Letter Grid to match the coordinates with the letter of your answer.  Repeat for however many letters are in the answer!
